Signs your system needs attention

You do not need to know what is wrong before you call. These are common reasons homeowners reach out.

  • Air from the vents feels warm while the air conditioner is on.
  • The system will not turn on, or shuts off soon after starting.
  • The thermostat calls for cooling or heat and nothing happens.
  • New noises such as buzzing, banging, grinding or squealing.
  • Water pooling near the indoor unit.
  • Ice on the copper lines or the outdoor unit.
  • A breaker for the system keeps tripping.

How often should my system get maintenance?

Many equipment manufacturers recommend professional maintenance at least once a year. In Arizona, spring is a common time, before the cooling season. A heat pump heats and cools, so it runs most of the year; ask whether a second visit before winter makes sense for your system.

What is the difference between a heat pump and an air conditioner?

Both cool your home the same way, by moving heat from inside to outside. A heat pump can also run in reverse to heat your home in winter. An air conditioner only cools, so homes with one usually have a separate furnace or heater.
